Dubai Harbour Hotel chooses SALTO electronic access control system
(07/03/2008)
Dubai has attracted world-wide attention through innovative real estate projects and the continuing development of new hotels, offices, shopping malls and leisure facilities is part of a huge construction drive designed to consolidate the status of this Gulf emirate as a regional business, services and tourism hub.
The Harbour Hotel & Residence, a USD 141 million investment for Emirates Airline's luxury hotel division, formally opened its doors in November 2007. Located at the gateway to the Dubai Marina, The Harbour Hotel & Residence provides easy access to Dubai's prime leisure and commercial districts and includes 261 suites.
The Harbour Hotel & Residence, Emirates Hotels & Resorts' first city-based hotel located in Dubai, has chosen SALTO Systems for its access control security requirements.
The project is the first integration of SALTO Systems with HID iCLASS technology in the UAE and approximately 350 Comfort model electronic locks have been installed in the hotel, along with wall readers to control the elevators, 20 i-locker locks, 15 glass door locks, 10
e-cylinders and 150 SALTO Virtual Network (SVN) control units. They are also using SALTO electronic bracelets to control access to the gym and fitness facilities.
"As a brand new hotel development, security was an important consideration from the outset," comments Bruno Hivon, General Manager of the Harbour Hotel & Residence. "Working in consultation with SALTO we have installed a highly secure and flexible electronic access control system that is sleek and contemporary to match our luxurious new guest facilities."
Victor Hage, SALTO Systems MEA Regional Manager, said: "Hotel installations are normally based on flexible time limited access. In practice this means that hotel guests usually stay for short periods of time after which their access authorisation is automatically withdrawn from the room lock and any further changes of the system require intervention at the lock with a "management card".
With the SALTO system however, this is controlled via our front desk Hotel Access Management Software (HAMS) and our SALTO Virtual Network (SVN) which uses distributed intelligence in both the lock and the key card. This provides the hotel with all the benefits of a fully on line access control system at a fraction of the cost."
