OCS Security supplies digital recording system to Wiltshire town
(12/02/2008)
The town of Devizes in Wiltshire is one of the first in the UK to benefit from a ‘total solution’ real-time digital recording system. This was designed and installed by OCS Security, utilising the latest Panasonic cameras and recording systems.
The new system has been discreetly installed in street light housings to blend with the existing town centre street lighting and differs from most installations of this type by utilising Verint digital radio transmission of data and images, thus avoiding the need for an expensive fibre optic network and ongoing revenue rental charges
The package of solutions now adopted in Devizes includes the CCTV system based on a bespoke design recommended by OCS. The new digital recording system uses Panasonic ‘super-track’ automated dome cameras capable of automatically following suspicious persons moving through the town without operator direct control. It records inputs from all cameras in real-time at 25pps in complete one-month cycles. The system is capable of being monitored by just two operatives.
Announcing the contract success, Michael Webb, operations director of OCS Security Systems said, “This is a prestigious contract using the latest technologies. The experience and expertise of OCS Security meant that the project was completed on time and within budget. Being a Panasonic Premier Installer meant that we were able to utilise the very latest equipment and experience available. The system may now be expanded into some of the local villages. The team involved have something to be very proud of and worked tenaciously to achieve excellent results.”
Group chief executive Chris Cracknell said, “Town centre security systems are crucial not just to track those intent on crime or anti-social behaviour but to encourage local trade through a feeling of safety and security amongst residents and shoppers. In this project we have followed our group-wide philosophy of tailoring solutions to clients’ needs whilst adopting advanced technologies capable of delivering efficiency and cost-effectiveness.”
