BeCrypt Trusted Client 2.0 includes support for wireless networks
(11/02/2008)
BeCrypt has launched the latest version of Trusted Client, v2.0, a secure configurable operating system that fits on a USB flash drive. The system allows a trusted environment on an untrusted host and is used for thin-client applications, web or email access or for stand-alone applications.
All information on the USB stick is encrypted to ensure confidentiality and integrity of data. The new version, 2.0, has been developed to be more easily configured by systems integrators, consultancies and specialist suppliers to meet customer needs, and includes improved support for wired and wireless networks, email and office productivity software.
The new version has been designed with a modular approach to enable third party components to be built in. It can support a variety of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) including Juniper and AEP, as well as Network Access Control (NAC) components. Management technology is provided to support deployment and revocation events.
Version 2.0 runs more flexibly as a ‘thin-client’, supporting Remote Desktop services. Optional secondary authentication is provided through the use of standards compliant smart cards. The light-weight operating system has been modified; allowing removal of unwanted components to increase system security and free up user space on the device. BeCrypt Trusted Client version 1 received a CCT Mark in October 2007.
David Holman, CEO of BeCrypt commented, “Trusted Client provides increased flexibility for workers as they can work securely from almost any computer in any location. We have designed this latest version to be more easily configured to meet customer needs.
“It is the logical next stage of development that underlines BeCrypt’s commitment to meet the need for an inexpensive, mobile environment that suits all mobile users. We can now customise the device to run more flexibly as a thin client, providing the same secure access while improving the user experience."
