BeCrypt has achieved CESG certification for two of its products, DISK Protect® Enhanced and its newly launched Advanced Port Control solution. The latest version of DISK Protect Enhanced, Version 3.04 includes support for USB devices, such as token readers required for two factor authentication when used in conjunction with a port control solution, and encryption of removable media.

This latest version of DISK Protect Enhanced to gain CESG approval, reduces the protective marking of data on the encrypted PC by one or two levels depending on the classification. So Top Secret comes down a level to Secret, Secret comes down two levels to Restricted, Confidential also comes down two levels to Not Protectively Marked, when used in adherence with the product handling instructions. DISK Protect Enhanced enforces mandatory dual factor authentication by user name, password and a personalised token, which could now be an iButton using a USB port,.

Advanced Port Control, the new release of BeCrypt’s solution for managing Plug and Play devices, has also achieved CESG approval for use in the Government sector. It has additional features to support higher levels of protection against the malicious or accidental leakage of private or sensitive data, specifically designed for users requiring enhanced levels of security. It also supports the use of Disk Protect Enhanced version 3.04. through configuring the device policy to ensure that only approved USB devices are used with DISK Protect Enhanced v 3.04 either for authentication or as removable media storage.

The latest version also includes additional features for external USB Hub Connection, Peripheral and Auditing Device Connection Control. Advanced Port Control also provides a stand-alone configuration tool to enable administrators to set the port control policy, either on a user or machine basis.

David Holman, CEO of BeCrypt commented, “CESG certification for the latest version of DISK Protect Enhanced and Advanced Port Control is a major step forward, and one which has been driven by customer demand. The approved use of USB devices and removable media means that BeCrypt is now able to offer data encryption to enhanced level in a way that is far more convenient to users of modern laptops which typically only have a USB port.”

Mr Holman continued, “This latest Government approval demonstrates BeCrypt’s continuing commitment to providing the most innovative products to our customers. All of BeCrypt’s range of data security solutions share heritage with our CESG approved products, so all customers benefit whether purchasing Government or Commercial grade solutions.”

Version 3.04 is available to customers with a maintenance contract as a free software upgrade with immediate effect.
