DigitalPersona, Inc. has announced the availability of DigitalPersona Online 4.2 software, its latest secure sign-on solution for web-based applications. This new version substantially enhances security and convenience with added support for Microsoft Vista and Internet Explorer 7 as well as support for enterprise notebooks with embedded fingerprint readers.
In addition, the Online 4.2 package includes remote access and desktop support for Citrix and MS Terminal Services. It is of particular value to enterprises in industries such as finance and healthcare that develop web-based applications for their customers, partners and/or employees that require the convenience and security of fingerprint authentication.
New features include:
- Support for Microsoft Vista (32 bit) – Enables a smooth and gradual upgrade path to Vista.
- Support for Internet Explorer 7 – Uses the latest browser from Microsoft with support for multi-tabs to access enterprise and Web-based applications with a single touch.
- Support for Citrix and Terminal Services – Enables users requiring secure remote access.
- Support for notebooks with embedded fingerprint readers including models from Dell, HP, IBM/Lenovo, Toshiba, Fujitsu, and more.
DigitalPersona Online 4.2 provides secure authentication and audit trails needed for compliance regulations. Online 4.2 reduces the support costs associated with lost or forgotten passwords by eliminating the need for users to remember them. The software easily integrates into existing web servers to control authentication for business-to-business and business-to-customer transactions.
DigitalPersona Online 4.2 is available immediately. The DigitalPersona Online Server is priced at €5000. The DigitalPersona Online Client software package with the DigitalPersona U.are.U® Fingerprint Reader is priced at €99. The DigitalPersona Client software or Kiosk Client software is priced at €30. An evaluation version of the server is available at €1000.
“Businesses such as financial institutions come to DigitalPersona because of the high reliability of our industry-leading authentication technology for web-based banking application support,” said Amr Assal, senior product marketing manager at DigitalPersona. “We have several bank customers that rely on DigitalPersona Online to secure the day-to-day financial transactions and wire transfers between their correspondent customer bank accounts. The use of passwords is too risky for them considering the level of activity between banks over the Internet.”
