Hitachi Business Solution has announced the release of DoMobile Ver.2.5, the latest version of HBSol’s secure remote access system with increased security and additional smartphone functionality.

The package is now available throughout Japan. It is being distributed by Hitachi Ltd. and its partner companies.

Under the terms of the agreement between the parties HBSol has the exclusive marketing rights to DoMobile-CSE in Japan and pays 01 Communique a royalty on sales. In addition the companies have made a joint patent application in Japan. The patent application is a continuation of 01’s U.S. 479 patent, which is the patent 01 Communique alleges Citrix Systems Inc. infringes.

“There have been numerous articles in the media concerning theft of personal and confidential information resulting in heightened public concern about the security of public information,” said Shinji Sugawara (Package Solution Div. of Hitachi Business Solution Co., Ltd.). “As a result many companies do not allow employees to take laptops out of the office thereby reducing the business’ mobility and ability to respond to critical issues.”

DoMobile CSE Ver.2.5 alleviates these types of security concerns. By combining DoMobile CSE with Hitachi’s “FLORA Se210” (a secure notebook PC without a hard drive), Hitachi’s customers have a complete and secure remote access system. This combination helps to prevent “information leakage,” a common problem associated with remote access whereby files are moved from a company’s network to a notebook PC, which may be lost or the files become compromised. Hitachi’s FLORA Se210 secure notebook operates as a “dumb terminal” allowing the user to access their PC and work as if they were at the office; however all files remain on the corporate network.

“The market for mobile technology for business use is growing rapidly,” said Shinji Sugawara. “Lead by Willcom’s “W-ZERO3”, most cellular phone carriers are now releasing new smartphones equipped with Windows Mobile, which in combination with fixed charge plans, is accelerating the number of corporate users.”

DoMobile CSE’s features, combined with the FLORA Se210 Server Introduction Model, make it an ideal security solution for small-medium sized enterprises.

To address the needs of this growing market improved support and new features for smartphones have been added for DoMobile, V.2.5. Features Of DoMobile CSE – V.2.5 9 include:
> A Linux version optimized for DoMobile is provided with the package.
> SSL-VPN enables a high-speed stable connection and high-level security
> Digital certificate for client devices to prevent spoofing
> Innovative software for remote control, and one time download viewer
> Administration tools to configure settings for each user
> Mobile functions for users to keep up-to-date with their work even when away from the office
*Outlook mail reference (Inbox/Composing/Contact List/Calendar)
*Remote control of PC in the office and remote printing
*File management (upload/download)

Generally it involves significant reconstruction of the existent network system to introduce remote access systems. However, DoMobile can be introduced without changing the network construction due to its patent pending (in Japan) technology resulting in reduced start-up costs. Additionally, system requirements are on the same level as an open web server, making its use possible for small-medium enterprises or section units.

Remote control function through a smartphone with Windows Mobile 5 or 6 is now supported, as is WVGA screen resolution. This makes it possible for the smartphone to run applications on a remote PC. This new feature will expand the applications of smartphones for businesses, making mobile work faster and smarter.

The updated server operating system expands the range of server machines DoMobile can be installed in. RAID controllers based on SAS HDD are now supported, allowing for more advanced and reliable hardware to be used.

“One of the major concerns Japanese businesses have identified with remote access is the issue of “information leakage”, said Andrew Cheung, President of 01 Communique. “DoMobile Ver.2.5, representing the next generation in remote access, has increased security features built in that are designed to resolve this issue. The combination of our technology with Hitachi’s FLORA Se210 notebook and server provides a turn-key remote access solution offering businesses the ability to stay connected and not be concerned about the loss of sensitive information.”

“The market for secure access solutions in Japan is large and expanding representing an excellent opportunity for strong revenue growth for our company,” says Andrew Cheung. “We have industry leading technology, protected by patents, that resolves one of the major security issues facing remote access today. We have a strong partner in Hitachi who has taken the product to market through Hitachi Ltd’s extensive sales channels. With their commitment to sales and marketing and our commitment to support we are confident DoMobile Ver.2.5 will be successful. We look forward to capitalizing on our investment as HBSol’s sales and marketing initiatives are realized.”
