Bosch systems protect visitors and employees at the new BMW World
(20/12/2007)
Bosch has installed comprehensive systems to protect visitors and employees at the new "BMW World". They blend quite discreetly into the astounding architecture of the new Event and Delivery Center with its distinctive double helix and its roof designed to resemble a floating cloud.
The task of early fire detection falls to about 3000 fire detectors. The hold-up and Intrusion Alarm System, consisting of 400 individual alarm detectors, monitors the outer perimeter and other sensitive areas. All reports are forwarded to a total of four universal security systems (UGM), which initiate lifesaving procedures if ever the alarm is sounded. In order to ensure that nothing detracts from the architecture, Bosch’s almost invisible smoke detector 500 series are used in especially sensitive areas. They are colored to blend into their surroundings and recessed artfully into the ceilings.
Besides the fire protection and intrusion alarm system, Bosch also installed a video surveillance system, an emergency exit door controller, and a public address system. If a fire does break out, a Praesideo public address system with 1800 integrated loudspeakers located throughout the building ensures that visitors and employees receive full and reliable information. 80 emergency exit doors are controlled centrally to ensure that the building can be evacuated extremely rapidly if the situation involves serious danger.
The BMW Group recently equipped its corporate headquarters in Munich with a modern fire alarm system supplied by Bosch. It had been selected in part due to the Bosch Security System that was also installed. It reflects the latest technology and performs in harmony with the remarkable design of the BMW World center.
