Vista has launched the Navigator range of Digital Video Recorders (DVRs). The range is packed with a host of new features, including the mouse-driven GUI (Graphical User Interface) which is intuitive in operation, minimising training requirements and easing operator use. Additionally, the on-screen help function helps less experienced users get the most out of the system, without the need to refer to separate manuals.

Powerful scheduling using ‘drag and drop’ graphics allows individual alarms, camera record speed and quality settings to be assigned for different weekdays, weekends and holidays. This optimises record duration and reduces the need for a large disk drive.

The latest codec technology has been utilised to allow video to be stored in two formats: JPEG for high resolution images and MPEG-4 for optimal transmission over networks. Navigator also allows for significant cost savings to be made as dome control is provided over standard coaxial cable, thereby removing the cost of any extra cabling in an existing system. The large range of telemetry protocols enables compatibility with an extensive range of third party dome and PTZ cameras.

"The launch of the Navigator marks the start of an important new phase for us," says Andrew Pigram, brand director for Vista. "It is a key product in our DVR offering and is the first in a new suite of innovative products that you can expect to see from Vista."
