OpVantia prevents the counterfeiting of high value paper documents
(22/11/2007)
In 2006 the UK Government completed a study which showed that counterfeiting and fraud cost the UK economy an estimated £1.72 billion per annum.
TSSI Systems has announced the launch of OpVantia™, the next generation of its embedded security thread for protecting documents. OpVantia™ is a highly secure, reliable technology that prevents the counterfeiting of high value paper documents. Its applications include bank documents, event tickets, personal and vehicle identification documents and vouchers.
OpVantia™ is a document security thread, which can be either fully embedded or windowed into the paper during the paper manufacturing process. Each OpVantia™ thread contains anti-counterfeiting security features and additionally can be decoded into a number for security identification or traceability. The thread is available in black, silver, gold and colourflip to enhance the aesthetic appearance of the document.
“TSSI has a family of proven, highly secure machine readable technologies that already protect tens of millions of documents against fraud. This newest generation of our document security thread OpVantia™ provides an even more cost effective mechanism to counter fraud,” said Stewart Hefferman, COO, TSSI.
TSSI also markets a range of readers that authenticate documents protected with the new OpVantia™ security thread. To validate a document as authentic, the user simply scans the reader across the surface of the document. The reader authenticates the thread as genuine and can display a number embedded within the thread.
TSSI will market OpVantia™ via its relationships with paper mills worldwide, offering each mill its own range of batch numbers.
