SafeBoot acquires altaVENTE mobile product range
(13/11/2007)
SafeBoot has announced it has acquired altaVENTE’s complete mobile product range, which includes its Mobile Manager and Wall Products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
altaVENTE, a Microsoft Gold Partner based in the UK delivering professional solutions for the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform, worked in collaboration with SafeBoot on the development of Mobile Manager.
Mobile Manager features include over-the-air mobile application deployment, device locking, device lock and wipe, application and process control, device backup and more. The key architecture is based on the control of a device over-the-air using GPRS/UMTS rather than through a network. If a stolen device never gets connected to the network, it will still be controlled by the company over-the-air.
The WALL range of products includes Voice, SMS, Mail, and Dialing firewall products for Windows Mobile, providing complete policy driven control of communications for Windows Mobile devices, including inbound and outbound calls, and inbound SMS and email messages. Organizations apply configuration policy to their devices to ensure correct operation, reduce downtime and decrease support costs.
callWall is a firewall for voice calls allowing users to define who they want or don’t want to receive calls from at specified times. callWall examines incoming calls and deals with them using a rule-based policy model. The user or organization selects the policy in force at any time which defines how numbers are handled.
smsWALL is a small footprint, power-friendly application that examines incoming SMS. It is designed to protect Windows Mobile devices from unwanted or dangerous inbound SMS messages.
mailWALL is a firewall for inbound emails allowing users to define who they want or don’t want to receive emails from, and to classify them into a specified subfolder.
dialWALL lets organizations control the use of outbound voice calls on Windows Mobile devices. dialWALL monitors outbound calls against a policy profile which defines the numbers allowed to be called from the device.
SQR1 allows organizations to apply configuration policy to their devices to ensure correct operation, reduce downtime and decrease support costs. Functionality includes re-application of appropriate corporate settings which fixes almost all non-hardware related faults on devices. Corporate support can define one or more profiles to be deployed to a device to cope with different scenarios such as travelling abroad or a roaming operator.
According to SafeBoot Product Manager Raj Dhesi, “The need for mobile device management and a total security solution within organizations is ever increasing. I am very excited with the acquisition of Mobile Manager and the Wall products from altaVENTE as they provide an enabling platform for Enterprise, Mobile Operator and ASP security.”
