Application Security develops Application Security Center of Excellence for the U.S. Air Force
(02/11/2007)
Application Security, Inc., has announced that the United States Air Force will be implementing its DbProtect™ database software security suite as part of a multi-vendor security software solution deployed by Xacta, a subsidiary of Telos Corporation.
The implementation is part of the U.S. Air Force’s development of the Application Software Assurance Center of Excellence (ASACoE), which is tasked with establishing application security best practices across Air Force departments. Other vendors involved include Fortify Software, Inc. and IBM/Watchfire. Cigital will take the lead with Xacta in providing organizational and risk assessments under the contract.
“We are happy to extend our database security best practices to the U.S. Air Force, and appreciate their validation of Application Security, Inc. as the preeminent database security vendor,” said Toby Weiss, president and CEO, Application Security, Inc. “The Air Force is leading the way by identifying data security as a critical business consideration early on in the overall software assurance process, and we’re proud to be a part of this new security model.”
“Given that data is under attack on a global scale, it’s essential that the Air Force implement the optimal combination of software and strategic thinking,” said John B. Wood, CEO, Telos Corp. “Application Security, Inc.'s DbProtect comprehensive database security solution was the ideal choice to integrate with other products as we help the Air Force to stand up its new Application Software Assurance Center of Excellence. Our goal is to help the Air Force develop a repeatable, functional data security model that will potentially extend throughout the DoD and other government bodies.”
