Arbor Peakflow X provides Commercial Bank of Dubai with internal network security, traffic monitoring and compliance
(26/10/2007)
Arbor Networks has announced that the Commercial Bank of Dubai has deployed the Arbor's Peakflow X platform to provide internal network security, network-wide traffic monitoring and compliance.
Peakflow X is used for three main purposes: internal network security, network-wide traffic visibility and compliance. Peakflow X constructs a system-wide view of the entire network, auto-learning host behaviors to determine who talks to whom, and how.
In real-time, Arbor Peakflow X compares traffic against these baselines to perform network behavior analysis (NBA), an innovative management technique used to identify developing security threats that do not yet have signatures - and therefore may easily slip by other devices such as intrusion prevention systems and firewalls - including virulent "zero day" attacks.
Peakflow X leverages Arbor's Security Engineering & Response Team (ASERT) for up-to-date threat intelligence and behavioral fingerprints, which are detailed traffic signatures of known or emerging threats. Arbor's Active Threat Feed (ATF) service automatically updates Peakflow X with these signatures, easing the burden on internal security staff.
Further easing the burden on internal networking and security staff is the integration of data from Arbor's Active Threat Level Analysis System (ATLAS) into the product. With the help of the service provider community, Arbor has developed ATLAS, a globally distributed darknet sensor network to deliver intelligence on host/port scanning activity, zero-day exploits and worm propagation, security events and vulnerability disclosures, and dynamic botnet and phishing infrastructures.
The integration of ATLAS data into Peakflow X eases the burden and stress on already stretched security and networking resources by eliminating manual collection and analysis of specific threats in favor of automated, customer-specific information generated by ATLAS.
"Arbor's Peakflow X leverages NetFlow in existing infrastructure equipment and provides us with enterprise-wide visibility into both network performance and security. We get the visibility and intelligence required to protect against a wide variety of threats as well as the information needed to ensure compliance, usage policies and alerting," said Rinaldo Ribeiro, head of information security with the Commercial Bank of Dubai. "Peakflow X is providing unique visibility into user behavior, application usage and threat prevention - all from a single, easy-to-use console."
"Arbor's experience working with some of the world's largest financial services firms certainly helped us understand the issues that the Commerial Bank of Dubai was facing," said Gerhard Schmid, Arbor's sales director for the Middle East. "Peakflow X is an attractive solution for financial service firms because it addresses both networking and security issues while also providing powerful, graphical, customizable, on-demand or scheduled reports which provide management with a real-time or historical view into the performance, security and compliance posture of the enterprise network."
