BPT proximity access control and automatic gate and barrier systems installed in Ealing schools

Ealing currently has 91 Local Authority schools and nurseries, including a number of special schools which cater for the needs of pupils with moderate and severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities and language and communication difficulties, as well as pupils with more multiple and complex needs.

BPT Entry Control Solutions has had its Impro proximity access control and automatic gate and barrier systems installed in schools throughout the London Borough of Ealing by Delta Synergistics.

A combination of IXP 121 and Impro16 proximity access control systems have been installed to the visitor entrances, main entrance gates, car parks and key internal doors for both security and safety. A variety of readers have been used, as the systems are modular, with stainless steel vandal resistant panels for durability.

Operated as stand alone systems, both the IXP 121 and Impro16 are capable of controlling up to 2000 tag holders per site, the former through up to four doors and the latter operating 16 doors. They come with free Windows based software and can be operated both on and off-line.

The Impro access control systems allow the user the added advantage of being able to monitor vehicle access, which until now has not been possible on such small, cost-effective systems. As each of the transmitters is encoded, every time it is used to operate the RF receiver to open a gate or raise a barrier, it divulges the users identity. In addition, the transmitter also contains a proximity device that can be used to open doors, reducing the number of devices the user has on their key ring and the cost of supplying more than one tag.

A combination of vehicle and pedestrian gates in schools are driven by electro-hydraulic systems which has proven to be more reliable, safer, and quieter than electro mechanical alternatives.

The Impro access control system has been installed by Delta Synergistics together with video door entry, CCTV and intruder alarm systems. Managing Director John Catherall is delighted with the outcome: "They work exceedingly well and gain excellent customer acceptance. BPT provide an excellent service."
