The Rimax Staff On Time Palm Scan is a palm reader which uniquely identifies users by their palm print, rather than the geometry of their hand. Exclusive UK distributor Databac Group will demonstrate Palm Scan in access control and time and attendance applications at Biometrics 2006.

Tests have shown the percentage of false negative reads as low as 0.1 per cent. The contactless reader can be wall-mounted behind a window, making it both weather- and vandal-proof, as well as 100% hygienic.

The full range of Staff On Time fingerprint systems will also be on display. These solutions put biometric technology within reach of businesses of all sizes.

During the event, Databac will show how biometric templates can be captured and encoded onto smart cards, using a Datacard SP series printer and its popular Dataimage ID software. This simple method enables the personalization of credentials to work with biometric systems: fingerprints or palm prints are verified against the template held on the card, rather than on a central database, for double security and ultra-fast verification.

Databac managing director Charles Balcomb commented: "We are very excited about the new Palm Scan reader and are eager to show its capability. This new product, as well as the Staff On Time fingerprint range show that biometric technology is no longer future technology. It's here now, working hard, extremely reliable, highly secure and surprisingly cheap and simple to use."

Also on the stand will be the Staff On Time Palm Vein solution and BioSmart technology.
