Recruitment agency screens CVs for false information
(30/11/2004)
Cummins Mellor Recruitment has launched Personnelchecks, its specialist CV screening and CRB checks Department. The idea was the brainchild of Chairman, Richard Mellor, who stated that Cummins-Mellor had experienced a surge in demand for employment history checks from clients and after many high profile cases including the invasion of Buckingham Palace by a Mirror reporter and the tragic case involving Ian Huntley.
Latest research indicates that 71% of employers had encountered serious lying on CVs, yet 34% do not bother to check the background of applicants because it is so time consuming. With this service, there are now no excuses. The days when job applicants ran little risk of being found out for embellishing their work history are now over as employers will be able to check CVs for false information, and in certain occupations apply for Criminal Record Bureau Checks.
Richard Mellor said “what price do we put on peace of mind. Do we really know who we are offering positions of responsibility and trust to? We could be placing members of society in potentially dangerous situations. Customers may query the time and cost of conducting CRB checks and employment vetting, but feedback from our clients indicates that they are more than happy to have the peace of mind that they are employing legitimate staff and subsequently avoiding the high cost of having to re-recruit or worse.”
In todays increasingly competitive job market, dishonesty is rife with 18% of candidates believing that they have to lie in order to compete. Lizzie Adamson, Head of Personnelchecks claimed: "all businesses can benefit from Personnelchecks. Our services are fast, accurate and secure. Our aim is to be tenacious in collecting the information our clients need."
