One-stop command and control environment for airport and port security
(18/11/2002)
Intergraph Public Safety (IPS) has chosen the Airport, Port and Terminal Security 2002 event for the European public launch of its safety and security solution for ground-based airport and maritime users, the company announced today.
The IPS CAD (computer-aided dispatch) system strengthens airport and port security and safety using state-of-the-art, intelligent map-based command and control software. Operating the IPS CAD system from a single command centre, security and communications personnel can view all facilities, keeping track of all events and multiple emergency services operations - helping to ensure the safety and security of passengers, cargo, crews, employees and visitors as a result.
Fire alarms, unauthorised entry attempts, security breaches and emergency service calls are automatically sent to the system, which displays an intelligent, integrated map of the entire airport or port on-screen, colour-coding different incidents and including links to CCTV and other interfaces.
The IPS CAD system integrates port and airport security by providing a platform or 'information hub' that receives, manages and reports disparate information triggered by alarm sensors, radio messages, telephone calls or access control devices.
"The current surveillance and detection technology tends to generate a mass of confusing information that actually hinders airport and port personnel, especially when multiple agencies are involved", says Intergraph Public Safety business development manager Craig Milner. "The IPS CAD system supports the management of on-site safety and security with clarity and precision - and has a positive and measurable impact on both".
