Alarmcom becomes Siemens Building Technologies
(03/10/2002)
Alarmcom Limited (UK) has a new identity following the announcement that from October 1, 2002, the company is trading as Siemens Building Technologies Limited, Fire & Security Products.
Fire & Security Products (FSP), a division of Siemens Building Technologies Limited (UK) - a company with sales in excess of £100 million – has relocated from its London Colney offices to the SBT UK Headquarters in Staines Middlesex. All customer services, sales orders, technical support, administration, training and showroom facilities will be located in Staines. The logistics and warehousing for FSP will now be handled by Siemens Shared Services from its purpose-built logistics facility at the heart of the motorway network in Hinckley, Leicestershire, with a direct computerised advanced warehouse management system link to the Staines HQ.
The new identity is the latest phase in an ongoing business strategy developed for the company back in March 2002. Stephen Eggleton, Divisional Director of FSP in the UK, comments “Fundamental to our new strategy is a realisation that we did not want to be a general wholesaler of intruder products but a specialist distributor and manufacturer. We are following a ‘three pillar’ approach, offering Intruder, CCTV and Fire products/systems solutions to our customers."
"The initial phase of the restructuring involved the closure of local branches and the removal of vans from our fleet as we refocused our investment into field sales, technical support and the centralisation of our customer services and logistics. We recognise that there is still much work to be done but with the backing of SBT and the opportunities this affords to develop new technologies and new product lines, as well as continuing to build on our relationships with manufacturers of preferred third party products, we are in an excellent position to enhance our product offering to the UK security and fire industries.”
