BT redcare updates insurers on new standards, new products and how to reduce the cost of claims
(13/09/2002)
The annual insurance roadshow from BT redcare is returning to a venue near you with a series of forums designed to clarify a number of fire prevention and security issues and the impact they have on the insurance industry. Kicking off on 17th September in Bristol, 22 seminars are planned around the country.
BT redcare will tackle issues such as:
· Reducing the rising cost of fire claims
· Specifying a DD243:2002 compliant security system – and the implications this has on police response
· Evaluating the options available for different levels of risk
· European standards for both fire and security protection
This expert advice will be of benefit to all those in the insurance industry, with many insurers eager to specify alarm systems based on the latest European standards, rather than existing British ones.
BT redcare’s fire specialist, James Winter, will be joining some of the seminars to discuss the impact of the European Standards, the increasing risks of arson, recent changes to the new BS5839-1 2002 as they effect property protection, as well as the latest regulations and requirements for signalling systems in the fires and security sector. In addition, local fire experts will present their views and delegates will have the chance to address the panel of speakers.
The seminars will also explain how and why redcare and redcare GSM achieved police preferred specification and Secured by Design accreditation and why Secured by Design is the way forward when recommending property protection.
BT redcare’s dual-signalling service, redcare GSM, provides the highest level of security by offering a radio back-up link, in addition to the primary landline link, to the Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) and is the only signalling system to provide a confirmed activation if both signalling paths are lost, regardless of which is lost first.
Commenting on the success of last year’s Belfast event, Nigel Hamilton at Independent Risk Services said: “I would like to thank BT redcare for a most informative seminar. I don’t think anyone could fail to be impressed by the advantages of redcare, and preferably with GSM added on. It certainly is the standard by which all alarm signalling should be measured.”
There are two seminars scheduled per day. Playing a pivotal role in the road show, Iain Jolley, BT redcare insurance liaison manager, commented: “Through these annual seminars, BT redcare seizes the opportunity to reinforce our commitment to the insurance industry enabling members to make informed decisions which address the needs of their clients.”
