Enterprise Wide Facial Recognition Capabilities
(14/03/2002)
Honeywell and Visionics Corporation have announced a collaborative alliance for the marketing of facial recognition biometrics systems through Honeywell's global network of branch offices and affiliates.
The alliance enables Honeywell to incorporate Visionics' revolutionary Biometric Network Appliance (BNA) Platform - with encapsulated FaceIt® facial recognition technology - as part of their industry leading Enterprise Buildings Integrator(TM) solution. The underlying plug-and-play architecture of the BNA Platform allows Honeywell to deploy facial recognition capabilities on new and existing customer sites to help meet evolving security needs.
"Honeywell chose to source the Visionics BNA Platform because it allows us to incorporate best-in-class facial recognition technology with Enterprise Buildings Integrator(TM) and our digital video management application," said Greg Taylor, Security Solutions Market Manager for Honeywell's Automation & Control Solutions Service business. "This offering also enhances our product portfolio to support Honeywell's aviation security efforts and our ability to deliver advanced turnkey security solutions to customers around the world."
Dr. Joseph J. Atick, chairman and CEO of Visionics commented, "Honeywell's adoption of the BNA Platform is a testament to the utility that it has in delivering facial recognition to large scale enterprises. As we have previously stated, it is not enough to provide the most accurate technology. It is also important to provide a scalable platform that can be seamlessly integrated into large-scale requirements. We are pleased to be at the forefront in providing these capabilities and to be partnering with Honeywell, a globally recognized technology leader."
Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator(TM) (EBI) is a technology platform that integrates core-building systems and subsystems including security, digital video, access control, life safety and HVAC into a complete facility management solution.
The BNA Platform is a technology framework for building scalable biometric solutions. It consists of network ready elements - hardware components, called Biometric Network Appliances (BNAs), programming logic for connecting the BNAs to each other or to standard security and information systems, and the core enabling FaceIt® technology whose functionalities are encapsulated in the BNA components.
Visionics Corporation is the worldwide leader in identification technologies and systems. The Company is uniquely positioned with a comprehensive set of biometric identification product offerings: FaceIt®, live scan, IBIS and BNP. The award-winning core FaceIt® technology enables a broad range of products and applications built by partners (OEMs, VARs and system integrators). These include enhanced CCTV systems, identity fraud applications, and identity verification systems for physical and network security, travel and banking. The TENPRINTER, FingerPrinter CMS and Modular live scan systems are the most widely used by government agencies, law enforcement, airports, banks and other commercial institutions in the United States. IBIS is a revolutionary mobile identification system capable of capturing both forensic quality fingerprints and photographs for transmission and wireless transmission of data to law enforcement and other legacy databases for real-time identification. Finally, the BNP is the only commercially available platform for delivering scalable biometric solutions. It incorporates FaceIt® technology for implementation over large-scale networks and real-time identification.
