New research from IDC has found that 9 out of 10 companies have experienced laptop theft on epidemic levels in the last year, and IT managers believe 45 per cent of thefts would have been prevented through the use of a laptop lock. IDC also found that 58 per cent of stolen laptops are taken from the office, and on average an organisation will experience 11 instances of laptop theft each year.
