Opened in 1999, the Travel Midland Metro is the first street tramway to run in the West Midlands for over 40 years. There are 23 tram stops along the route, which stretches 20.13 kilometres from Birmingham Snow Hill to Wolverhampton St George's. Carrick District Council protects its lone workers with Identicom(15/10/2007)
When one of Carrick District Council’s officers was threatened whilst on a site visit, and conscious that other local councils in Cornwall were reporting similar incidences of verbal and physical abuse, Carrick District Council’s Development Services Department decided to review its lone worker security. A survey released by the Royal College of Nursing has highlighted that more than one third of nurses working alone have been assaulted or harassed in the last two years. The survey, conducted amongst 1,000 nursing staff found that over half (52%) of nurses working alone thought that the level of threat of violence or abuse has increased over the same period.
