AlienVault welcomes Ofcom Internet report but argues more online education is needed

IT experts welcome Ofcom Internet report but says more needs are to be done with online security education. AlienVault has welcomed the latest set of Internet attitudes research from Ofcom - most notably the fact that 87 per cent of users have installed IT security software on their home computers, but cautions that this still leaves 13 per cent of users who are unaware of the significant risks they are running of not installing such software.... Weaponised doc files targeting Apple Mac users spotted by AlienVault

A family of weaponised doc (MS-Office) files have been discovered by AlienVault. These weaponised doc files - in the wild are targeting the Apple Mac platform, which the company says is highly unusual given the low incidence of Apple Mac vulnerabilities. Google Wallet PIN crack has potential security consequences for MasterCard and Visa cardholders

AlienVault highlights that Chinese are tapping malware to attack US DoD smart card security

Evidence of Chinese-originated attacks against the US government agencies including the US Department of Defense (DoD) has been found by AlienVault which use a new strain of the Sykipot malware to compromise DoD smart cards.
